To our friends who love peace
76th summer coming, we have passed since the atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.
More over in the world, there are 13,000 shots nuclear bombs, they threaten the human beings to live. The atomic bombs destroyed the two cities in a moment, deprived the lives of 210,000 people within the year. That was the worst tragedy through the human history, still now 127,756（At the end of March 2021）people have been suffering. By nuclear tests and accident of nuclear plants also extends seriously radioactivity from every corner of the world.
The people who desire no the nuclear weapons are over average 83 hope the rising generations will have never a hell of life during their life. January-22nd 2021, a nuclear weapons prohibition treaty go into effect as a first step. An unlawful nuclear weapons, as a international community standards prohibition nuclear weapons development, test, production, storage, use all kinds of actions. We got a chance we can built the world without nuclear weapons. Many people are requesting the abolition of nuclear weapons. However, we feel regret the Japanese government against nuclear weapons prohibition treaty that we are only the country has suffered from atomic bombing in world. We are coming into action up to today, prohibition treaty took effect at this moment in time, the Japanese government should be in the vanguard of the world without nuclear weapons.
We, The Great Peace March of Ehime Japan Council against Atomic & Hydrogen Bombs, have done the peace march for 63 years hoping the world peace and abolition of nuclear weapons as a bombed nation with the constitution of renunciation of war. We were driving through all of local governments and Atomic bomb victims and over 250 inhabitants of Ehime prefecture marched. At the same time the action of sending these paper cranes as peace messengers to foreign countries is organized and 200,000 paper cranes are gathered.
One thousand cranes represent long life. It is said the cranes live a thousand years and the turtles ten thousand years. There is a child statue of A-bomb victim in Hiroshima Peace Park. Sadako Sasaki was 2 years and 8 months old when the A-bomb was dropped. She got sick in the 6th grade an elementary school in fall. She continued folding a thousand paper cranes. About a year later, she died of acute leukemia at the age of 12. Cranes are full of our resolution not to bring about A-bomb victim again.
We will send them to your group. We have sent 4,941,000 cranes to 89 groups in 32countries. We wish you to make use of them for your peace activities of anti-nuclear, anti-war anti-nuclear plant from the glass roots movement. We look forward to hearing your activity.

平和を愛する仲間のみなさんへ
１９４５年８月、広島・長崎に原爆が投下されてから７６年目の夏を迎えました。
今なお世界には、１万３千発以上核兵器が存在し、人類の生存を脅かしています。原爆は、一瞬のうちに２つの都市を破壊し、２１万人の尊い命を奪いました。人類史上例のない非人道的な被害をもたらし、現在も１２７，７５６人（2021年3月末現在）の被爆者が苦しみ続けています。また、核実験や原発事故によって世界各地に深刻な放射能被害が広がっています。
平均年令８３才をこえた被爆者は、後世の人々が生き地獄を体験しないように、生きている間になんとしても核兵器のない世界を実現したいと望んでこられました。その大きな一歩として、２０２１年１月２２日、核兵器禁止条約が発効し、核兵器は違法化され、国際社会の規範として核兵器の開発、実験、製造、貯蔵、使用などあらゆる活動が禁止されました。今こそ核兵器のない世界をつくるチャンスです。多くの人々が核兵器廃絶を求めています。しかし唯一の戦争被爆国の日本政府は核兵器禁止条約に背を向けていることは大変残念です。禁止条約が発効した今、日本政府こそが核兵器のない世界の先頭に立つべきですだと考えて私たちは行動しています。
私たち原水爆禁止国民平和大行進愛媛県実行委員会は、被爆国であり戦争放棄の憲法をもつ日本国民として、世界の平和と核兵器廃絶を願い、６３年間平和行進を続けています。今年も全自治体を訪問し、被爆者をはじめ２５０人をこえる県民が行進しました。同時に「“平和の使者”千羽鶴を海外へ送る運動」にとりくみ、今年も約２０万羽の折り鶴がよせられています。
「鶴は千年、亀は万年」と言われ、日本では千羽鶴は長命の象徴です。広島平和公園には「原爆の子の像」があります。２歳８ヶ月で被爆した佐々木貞子さんは、小学校６年生の秋、急性白血病を発病し「生きたい」という願いを込めて鶴を折り続けましたが、約１年後１２歳で亡くなりました。折り鶴には、「再び被爆者をつくらない」という決意が込められています。
この千羽鶴を今年は貴団体へお送りします。昨年までに世界３２カ国８９団体・個人へ４９４万１千羽を送っています。みなさんの草の根からの反核平和運動に、この折り鶴を役立てていただくことを心から希望します。みなさんの平和運動の様子などお知らせいただければ幸いです。
