To our friends who lovepeace
69 years have passed since theatomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. The atomicbombs destroyed the two cities in s moment, deprived the lives of 210,000people within the year.
That was the worst tragedythrough the human history. Still now 200,000 people suffer from illness causedby A-bomb radiation. In addition serious damages are done all over the world bynuclear tests, for instance in the Sahara desert and the South Pacific Ocean. There are more than nearly 17,000 nuclear weapons to be ready to be fired andit threatens existence of human beings.
“We human beings never coexistwith nuclear weapons” “No more A-bomb victim”, the citizens movement forabolition of nuclear weapons has spread and about to change the world.
At the same time, we’ve passedmore than three years from Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami, Fukushima nuclearplant accident, still now it doesn’t anything come to an end but Fukushimanuclear plant has been discharging radioactivity to the Pacific Ocean, 140,000people have been living on pressure from refuge. “Human beings never coexistwith nuclear plants” “Protect children from radioactivity” Such a moment hasbeen increasingly spreading and demanding that nuclear power should be replacedby natural energy.
In last year, United NationsGeneral Assembly 70% or more of the member nation agreed and called you tourgently start negotiations for early conclusion of comprehensive nuclearweapons all-out ban treaty. The February in this year, 146 countriesparticipate in “an international conference about the non-humaneness of nuclearweapon use” held in Mexico and corner whether “the chemical munitions couldprohibit why the nuclear weapon through they can’t prohibit it” nuclear power.
In 2010 re-examine in the NuclearNonproliferation Treaty and 189 countries including the possession nuclearweapons country agreed “The nuclear weapon perfection extinction of the owncountry” was “to achieve the peace and security of the nuclear free world” Thenext NPT re-examination meeting is held in next April. Countries will take actionwith world people to let you carry out the last agreement for a turning pointof being bombed 70th, and to achieve an aim of nuclear weapon extinction.
We, The Great Peace March ofEhime Japan Council against Atomic & Hydrogen Bombs, have done the peacemarch for 57 years hoping the world peace and abolition of nuclear weapons as abombed nation with the constitution of renunciation of war. This year, too, wevisited all the cities in Ehime and over 700 citizens including the A-bombedvictims took part in the peace march. At the same time the action of sendingthese paper cranes as peace messengers to foreign countries is organized and200,000 paper cranes are gathered.
One thousand cranes representlong life. It is said the cranes live a thousand years and the turtles tenthousand years. There is a child statue of A-bomb victim in Hiroshima Peace Park.Sadako Sasaki was 2 years and 8 months old when the A-bomb was dropped. Shecontinued folding a thousand paper cranes. She died of acute leukemia at theage of 12. Cranes are full of our resolution not to bring about A-bomb victimagain.
We will send them to your group. We have sent 3,688,000 cranes to 72 groups in 31 countries. We wish you to makeuse of them for your peace activities of anti-nuclear, anti-war anti-nuclearplant from the glass roots movement. We look forward to hearing your activity.
