平和を愛する仲間のみなさんへ

 1945年8月、広島・長崎に原爆が投下されてから68周年を迎えました。
 
 原爆は、一瞬にして2つの都市を壊滅させ、21万人の命を奪うという人類史上例のない残酷な被害をもたらし、今日も21万人の被爆者が苦しみ続けています。また、核実験によってサハラ砂漠や南太平洋をはじめ世界各地に深刻な被害が広がっています。今なお世界には、1万7千発の核兵器が存在し、人類の生存を脅かしています。
 いま、「人類と核兵器は絶対に共存できない」「ふたたび被爆者をつくるな」という市民社会の運動は、世界中に響き渡り、核兵器廃絶を求める流れが世界を変えようとしています。
 同時に、一昨年3月11日の東日本大震災によって福島原発がレベル7の過酷事故を起こし、世界中に放射性物質が放出される中で、「人類は原発と共存できない」「子ども達を放射能から守れ」と原発から撤退し自然エネルギーへの転換を求める運動が広がっています。
 
 2010年のNPT再検討会議は、核兵器保有国を含む189カ国が「自国の核兵器完全廃絶」「核兵器のない世界の平和と安全を達成する」ことで合意しました。この約束を実行するために、すべての国が核兵器禁止条約の交渉をはじめなければなりません。昨年12月の国連総会でも、核兵器の廃絶と核不拡散の合意実行を求めたニュージーランド、メキシコなど非核7カ国でつくる新アジェンダ連合の提案や、核兵器禁止条約の交渉開始を求めるマレーシアなどの提案が、いずれも圧倒的な支持で採択されています。
 
 核兵器のない世界へ、次のステップへの鍵を握るのは世界の人々の意思であり行動です。私たち原水爆禁止国民平和大行進愛媛県実行委員会は、被爆国であり、戦争放棄憲法をもつ日本国民として、世界の平和と核兵器廃絶を願い、56年間平和行進を続けています。今年も全自治体を訪問し、被爆者をはじめ700人をこえる県民が行進しました。同時に「『平和の使者』千羽鶴を海外へ送る運動」にとりくみ、今年は20万羽の折り鶴がよせられています。
 
 千羽鶴は、日本では「鶴は千年、亀は万年」と言われ、長命の象徴です。広島平和公園には「原爆の子の像」があります。2歳8ヶ月で被爆した佐々木貞子さんは、急性白血病になり、「生きたい」という願いを込めて鶴を折り続けましたが、12歳で亡くなりました。折り鶴には、「再び被爆者をつくらない」という決意が込められています。
 
 この千羽鶴を今年は貴団体へお送りします。これまで、世界31カ国67団体へ、348万8千羽を送っています。みなさんの草の根からの反核反戦・反原発平和運動に、この折り鶴を役立てていただくことを心から希望します。みなさんの平和運動の様子などお知らせいただければ幸いです。

To our friends who love peace

68 years have passed since the atomic bombsdropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. The atomic bombs destroyedthe two cities in a moment, deprived the lives of 210,000 people.
 That was the worst tragedy through the humanhistory. Still now 220,000 people suffer from illness caused by A-bombradiation. In addition serious damages are done all over the world by nucleartests, for instance in the Sahara desertand the South Pacific Ocean. There are morethan nearly 17,000 nuclear weapons to be ready to be fired and it threatensexistence of human beings.
 “We human beings never coexist with nuclearweapons” “No more A-bomb victim”, the citizens movement for abolition ofnuclear weapons has spread and about to change the world.
At the same time, owingto the March 11 last year Tohoku earthquake & tsunami, Fukushima nuclear plant caused worldwide terribleaccident at level-7 with massive dose of radiation emitting. “Human beingsnever coexist with nuclear plants” “Protect children from radioactivity” Such amoment has been increasingly spreading and demanding that nuclear power shouldbe replaced by natural energy.
In NPT Review Conference held in May 2010, theultimate document reconfirmed the convention for the elimination of nuclearweapons adopted by nuclear powers among as much as 189 countries, includingnuclear power states.
In the United Nations General Assembly December2012, The proposal agreement and action about abolition of nuclear weapons andstop from spreading them to other countries. Moreover, New Agenda Alliance,which consists of 7 none-nuclear countries including New Zealand, Mexico, and Malaysia also demanded to start negotiation for thetreaty of prohibition against nuclear weapons.
All these proposals have been adapted withoverwhelming support.
It’s the will and action of the people in theworld that have a key to making the next progress toward nuclear-free country.We, The Great Peace March of Ehime Japan Council against Atomic & HydrogenBombs, have done the peace march for 56 years hoping the world peace andabolition of nuclear weapons as a bombed nation with the constitution ofrenunciation of war. This year, too, we visited all the cities in Ehime andover 700 citizens including the A-bombed victims took part in the peace march.At the same time the action of sending these paper cranes as peace messengersto foreign countries is organized and 200,000 paper cranes are gathered.
 One thousand cranes represent long life. It issaid the cranes live a thousand years and the turtles ten thousand years. Thereis a child statue of A-bomb victim in Hiroshima Peace Park. Sadako Sasaki was 2 years and 8 months oldwhen the A-bomb was dropped. She continued folding a thousand papercranes.    She died of acute leukemia atthe age of 12. Cranes are full of our resolution not to bring about A-bombvictim again.
 We will send them to your group. We have sent3,488,000 cranes to 67 groups in 31 countries. We wish you to make use of themfor your peace activities of anti-nuclear, anti-war anti-nuclear plant from theglass roots movement. We look forward to hearing your activity.
No more Hiroshima! No more Nagasaki! No more Hibakusya!
